Lore Event V: Bandle City

Bandle City

These are Bandle City’s options for Interactive Lore Event V: The Beginning of the End.

Bandle City has beaten back the undead hordes, restored the Mothership, and traveled to the moon. What will they do next?

Alliance with Piltover

Piltover and Bandle City have cooperated closely for this entire arc. To Rumble’s dismay, the dispute has brought them closer together.

Finally, they will be given an option to formalize this alliance. If both sides agree, an alliance will be formed:

  • Diplomatic pact. Their diplomatic options vis-a-vis Demacia and Zaun will be restricted. For example, neither side will be able to ally up with Zaun unless both sides agree. Also, each faction will be obligated to assist the other to react to a disaster or defend against an invasion.
  • Featured Match bonus points. If either faction wins bonus points from Featured Matches, those points will be shared equally between both Piltover and Bandle City.
  • Summoner substitution. Unlimited Summoner substitution is allowed for Piltover and Bandle City in all matches, including Featured Matches and Tournaments, so long as they are not fighting one another.
  • Champion substitution. Piltover may borrow one Champion from Bandle City in each match, and vice versa. (Champions who are already shared, such as Heimerdinger, do not count against this limit.) However, Rumble will never fight for Piltover.
  • Research surge. The first week after ratification, each faction will receive a +2 cooperation bonus on all research rolls for that week.
  • Combined research. Each week, each faction will receive help from its ally on one project, chosen by staff, generally after informal consultation with members of that faction. On that project, the ally will contribute a second research roll. This bonus would not apply during the “surge” week immediately after ratification.
  • Joint victory. If either faction wins the arc, Summoners from both factions will participate in the vote to select a faction for the next storyline. They will also share the pyrikhos, with the “actual winner” getting two-thirds and their ally getting one-third.

Even if both factions vote to form the alliance, it might be derailed if (e.g.) either faction is caught spying on the other.

Demacia

Demacian agents have secretly approached the Mothership Elders. They reveal that they believe the disaster in the pyrikhos mines, which was blamed on Piltover, was in fact the result of Zaun’s reckless actions, and that Runeterra faces another Void invasion if Zaun is not stopped soon. King Jarvan III is considering military action. He wishes to know if he can count on Bandle City should it come to that.

Aiding Demacia would expose Bandle City to the same risks Demacia faces. Bandle City’s small military is already in poor shape after the undead attack, and could be almost completely annihilated. Also, if they fail, Zaun will surely demand (and receive) extremely harsh sanctions against the belligerents.

Espionage

Bandle City’s intelligence division presents three options. You may support all of them, none of them, or some of them. The odds are estimated as follows for each operation. They are better than usual because of the “orbital surveillance” advantage provided by the successful completion of the Mothership project.

  • Chance of success: 70%
  • Chance of being caught: 20%

Capture would likely lead to sanctions or the loss of classified intelligence to the enemy.

The options are as follows:

  • Operation Giggleflower
    • Spy on Piltover.
    • If successful: gain a single bonus roll on all projects next week.
    • Being caught would doom the alliance.
  • Operation Snapweed
    • Spy on Zaun.
    • If successful: gain a single bonus roll on all projects next week.
    • Would violate the treaty with Zaun.
  • Operation Kerfuffle
    • Sabotage Zaun’s research or military.
    • If successful: set back Zaun’s research or disable part of the Zaunite war machine for a short time.
    • Would violate the treaty with Zaun.

Moon Research

The Mothership has been restored! Glory to the Mothership! Glory to Bandle City!

The first freeze-dried cupcakes have been specially prepared, and intrepid yordle explorers have traveled to the moon. Bandle City can select a new research project.

  • Lunar Base
    • A lunar base built of transparent pyrikhos-fired glass domes and boxes linked by transparent tubes. Would provide a significant research bonus and enable greater space exploration, or possibly the construction of new ships.
  • Space Scouts

New Champion

We shouldn’t be going to war with Zaun in the first place. It’s not safe to just assume that Demacia has the best interests of the world at heart, and if they plan to take total control of the pyrikhos (as they’ve claimed to want to do), you can say goodbye to the Mothership. Champion-wise, I’d say Braum, so we can afford to go with less tanky options in our other lanes (not to mention more CC), although I’m certainly no fan of Poro Farms, whatever those are. Lunar base sounds great, and an alliance with Piltover is barely even a question. We’ve got to have it. Reminder, Zaun committed the most to helping us against the undead army. They’re trying to cooperate with us, and yes, it’s to get themselves ahead, but it helps us, too. Demacia is just out for Demacia. Don’t forget that.

I say for sure dont spy on pilt, we need that alliance
however, with the way things are going, we only break the alliance if we get cught spying on zaun, and even if it does break, we’re already about to go to war with them, so we might as well get something out of it

  3. Recaiden says:

I agree with the Lunar base. Research advantages, space exploration. We will shortly be getting Teemo back and with that and Piltover’s alliance we should have enough mobility.

I vote against all the spying. We don’t want to jeopardize the alliance with Piltover and Zaun really helped us out in the past. We should give them a chance.

As for the new champion, Nami. Nunu doesn’t go very well with any of our carries, and out of the jungle Amumu’s CC is a lot stronger. Plus, the poor fish needs help.

  4. Arzellous says:

    Okay guys! Time to discuss.

Firstly: WE MADE IT TO SPACE

I think we should make the lunar base, it will expand our research and give us a serious edge over all the other factions.

Secondly: Crush Zaun. Crush them, our only loss in breaking the alliance is making Zaun an enemy. So we need to not only fight for ourselves, but for Runeterra. If Zaun continues, they will destroy the entire world.

    Third: A new champion.
I know everyone sees Braum and thinks GG we win. But think some more. I support the Nunu pickup, because if we can basically get a free arc prize wit the mirrorwater, it will expand our rezearch, give us new resources to play with, and, we will actually have another jungler!
Hope you guys consider my thoughts, Arzellous

      I like the lunar base

I don’t think spying is the best idea atm where we have a really good oppurtunity with alliances and such – we should wait it out but keep Zaun in our sights

      (from a gameplay standpoint)
I disagree with the Nunu pickup because we have better support options with the other 2 and even though we only have 1 jungle I still don’t think it’s our best choice. I would actually prefer Braum because of Jinx on Zaun and Cait in piltover who’s ults will be useless (most of the time) and Demacia doesn’t have anything to take him out well enough. IF we pick Braum though we will have 2 tanks in the majority of games because Amumu is the only really competent jungler we posses atm. Nami is a good idea as well because of her synergy with Tristana and Corki. We already are up a creek with midlaners so Veigar is out of the question (and we don’t need the danger level increase by any means.)

Tl;Dr: 1st pick: Braum, 2nd: Nami, 3rd: Nunu (unless Amumu isn’t doing well as jungle) No Pick: Veigar
