Repeat after me: this is not Shurima Part II. This is just a Void rift.
So, it seems Krocylea got a little spicy. The island is now being consumed by the Void. This is not a Shurima-type rift; it will not destroy the world, or even affect Nyroth beyond Krocylea. However, the Shadow Isles is on an Aatrox kick, and might just be insane enough to stay and fight. Other factions have other choices to make: do you run? Fight alongside the Isles? Or risk yourselves trying to save the (warmongering) Krocyleans?

The death toll is already in the tens of thousands. This is an unmitigated disaster. The Freljord and the Shadow Isles will likely not be able to motion for anything more complex than a cheeseburger for the rest of the arc, and may be harshly sanctioned—especially the Freljord, which just tore open a Void rift by resort to forbidden magic.
The island event is currently “timestopped”. The timestop will lift Friday night, and the resolution will be announced. This should be pretty epic.
Although, again, this is not another Shurima, I believe it’s worth a second round of voting for two main reasons. First, the situation just changed from a Star Trek episode about whether we’re really so different from our “enemies” after all, and whether man was in fact the real monster all along, to a (localized) Voidpocalypse and an invocation of Aatrox. This warrants another decision point. Second, this brings together a lot of alliance and rivalry plot threads that have been running through this arc. If now isn’t the time to make a stand with or against other factions, I don’t know what is. No more being coy and pouty about supporting or opposing each others’ petitions for Research Assistance or to add Amumu to your roster—the chips are down, and it’s time to make your choice. Tbh I’m a bit confused. I believe the use of ‘barely-legal’ magic was under the condition SI and Freljord got into a fight. We did not get into a fight. SI got into a one-sided battle, and Freljord went to secure the rift while SI did a stomp. Somehow, this led to SI and Freljord cooperating while avoiding having both kingdoms attack us. THEN SOMEHOW WITHOUT ANY CONFLICT BETWEEN SI AND FRELJORD, WE USED SCARY COMBAT MAGIC!!! Seriously, I was sure the vote was for ‘use under the conditions SI and Freljord duke it out’, not ‘use just cause 420 Blaze it YOLO’. Eff-lucking Oath.
Nevermind, I just read the update on Nyroth. I get it now.
