Factions hosts streamed and shoutcasted Featured Matches every Saturday and Sunday, starting at 12:30 p.m. Pacific. We are looking for people interested in streaming or casting these matches, with streamers being in particularly high demand. If you have a reasonably powerful computer and a stable, high-bandwidth internet connection, streaming is actually pretty simple. Matchstaff can walk you through the technical details.
The new procedure for setting up streaming and casting will work like this. Interested parties should contact Shiisaa or someone else on matchstaff. Ideally, you should “apply” as a duo or trio: either two casters, one of whom will stream, or one streamer and two casters. You’ll then select a weekday on which you’ll stream/cast a pickup match or two. This provides a low-pressure environment in which you can check your mic levels, streaming settings, and so on, and also get some feedback from staff and community about casting style. That way, you can hit the Featured Matches strong, without the need for a lot of awkward, “Wait, can people hear me?” preliminaries. This is part of our larger effort to make Featured Matches true “highlight matches” that we can publicize more broadly and use to illustrate how Factions works, confident that they’ll make a good impression.
