The first round of Champion recruitment in the new Shuriman dispute is complete.
5 June, 25 CLE—Morgana, the Fallen Angel, enters the dispute on behalf of Noxus. Though she sees in Azir the same arrogant hunger for dominance that made her sister what she is, her principal motivations are more pragmatic. The energy surge that followed the restoration of Nyroth’s central nexus triggered bursts of arcane phenomena from every nexus in Valoran—except for those in Shurima. Where could so much raw power have gone? It is believed that it is now bound up in some of the lost treasures of ancient Shurima, buried beneath the sand, or perhaps in pocket dimensions layered in Shuriman spell-locks. Noxus was searching for these artifacts when the fighting broke out; she is willing to aid them on the Fields, provided that she may also “assist” them with their search…and keep a little something for herself.
Morgana represents the Noxian predilection for dark magic. One major objective for Noxus in Shurima is to gather arcane power, reducing its reliance on Zaunite techmaturgy. All those hextanks are very impressive, but isn’t it time for a good old-fashioned soul-rending kill-curse or two? You know, skip the flashy death rays and neon smoke, and just tear the life out of your nemesis with a cold glare and a cruel twist of your clawed hand. A traditional, even classical Noxian approach that’s coming back in style this season.
5 June, 25 CLE—Orianna, the Lady of Clockwork, enters the dispute on behalf of Piltover. Both the greatest and the most tragic creation of Corin Reveck, Orianna craves battle on the Fields of Justice above all else. She yearns to participate in so grand a dispute as this, because that is what a Champion does, and she is a Champion, just like she always wanted to be.
Though many find her presence unnerving, Orianna represents a fundamentally human application of hextech science. As Piltover develops its New Model Army, the essentially abandoned study of sentient automata is once again in vogue. Others propose that, using much of the same technology used in Orianna, a kind of difference engine might be created which could solve complex techmaturgical quandries in a fraction of the time required by traditional methods.
5 June, 25 CLE—Leona, the Radiant Dawn, enters the dispute on behalf of Shurima. Emperor Azir welcomes her into his court as a representative of Targos, a principality of the ancient Shuriman Empire. Twelve of the greatest Solari mages come with her, professing their desire to venerate the Sun Disc and learn the ways of Shuriman solar magic. Nasus permits four to proceed. Seven of their number he refuses; one more falls dead beneath his gaze.
Ancient Shurima is known for the devastatingly powerful solar magic that scorched it into the desert it is today. Fragments of this magical tradition spread throughout Valoran in the aftermath of the empire’s collapse. While other societies have significantly modified these teachings to better adapt them to their own ways, the Solari have built an entire culture around the sun.
The Faction Rosters have been updated accordingly.
Detailed voting results are available here:
The runners-up were Annie (Tertiary), Zac (Secondary), and Pantheon (Tertiary).
The least-favored selections were Elise (Tertiary), Zilean (Secondary), and Kassadin (Tertiary).
You can discuss these pickups in this thread.
The next pickup will occur on June 12. Factions may recruit either a Secondary or a Tertiary, but if they recruit a Tertiary, it also consumes their next selection. Recruitment opportunities occur on the first, second, and fourth weeks of each month.

[…] 5 June, 25 CLE. The first round of Champion recruitment takes place. Sivir cleverly takes advantage of the more liberal Champion recruitment rules that apply to member-state candidates, and secures the admission of Leona. The Chosen of the Sun pledges for Shurima as a representative of the Solari, heirs to the kingdom of Targos that was once part of the Shuriman Empire. Noxus calls upon one of its traditional mainstays and hires Morgana; depending on whom you ask, estimates of her fee range from “the souls of a thousand yordles locked within black iron forged with the fiery breath of an obsidian-scaled dragon and quenched in the blood of the innocent” to “a lot of gold.” Meanwhile Piltover, grumbling about how hard it is to get anything done while Demacia is off pouting, must exert considerable effort just to get Orianna through the Council’s review.
