Balance of Power

Matches affect the balance of power between the factions. This “scoreboard” influences the storyline and ultimately determines the winner.

Anyone can create a scored match anytime. Just remember to send us the results for scoring.

Current Balance of Power

This graph shows the current balance of power between Shurima, Noxus, and Piltover.

Match Scoring

Factions gain points by winning matches and lose points by losing matches. Match value is set by factors including:

  • Map and mode. Summoner’s Rift is worth the most points. Also, the more Summoners are involved, the more points the match is worth.
  • Skill adjust. We’ve used the data gathered from years of Factions matches to estimate the winrate of two teams based on the ranks of their Summoners. This allows us to at least roughly correct for skill imbalance. Simply put, if a lower-ranked team beats a higher-ranked team, the match is worth more points, whereas if the higher-ranked team wins, their victory will award them fewer points than normal. If you’re curious about a particular matchup, you can use our winrate calculator to check the estimated winrate. The system gets smarter the more matches are played.
  • Faction standing adjust. For every one point of gap between the two factions’ scores, the value of the match is increased or decreased by 1%.

the tourney bonus for demacia and pilt is missing too

  5. Companion Prism says:

Probably nothing, but there seem to be a few games missing from after the tourney which hold the potential to change things a little.

oooh it became so close together for the ending :)

It seems a bit odd that a pact was formed right at the ending of the chapter.

It’s been gradually building since the first lore event.

I’m so sick of everyone picking on Piltover, and pick up matches never being even. That and Zaun always gets stupid bonuses on everything because they are so far ahead. It’s not fair. Zaun has the best roster and the best players. There is no possible way any other faction can win this arc without zaun getting hammered hard with restrictions and sanctions and losing all their research progress.

        • CupcakeTrap says:

As announced previously, because Zaun is now in “victory mode” (with a chance to win outright and end the arc early if it prevails in this tournament and a follow-up), I’m going to be a bit harsher than normal on them. At the end of the day, though, the central concept of Factions competition is that the stronger faction wins. Which faction is stronger can depend on the Champions they pick up, their organization, and a number of other things. And the basic idea of the research system and such is that the faction that wins matches gets the most in-universe power.

I’m going to be throwing more bonuses at other factions and more obstacles at Zaun, but not so drastically that my own actions in themselves topple Zaun.

If Zaun truly does have “the best roster and the best players”, it probably “should” win. But I’ll do what I can to (1) give the other factions a shot at victory – maybe not an even shot, but a shot, and (2) enable the other factions to score smaller wins, like sending hamsters to the moon.

“harsher” they call it. then zaun gets a free 5 army units, and then their sanctions are changed from “No points even if you win” to “champion ban” even though it’s already been decided because it was “too harsh” and go figure they win the featured. harsher my ass.

Zaun’s Base point value for games(when we get to over 40 it seems):
all matches are worth 1 when we win.
all matches are worth -10 when we lose.
    XD
